Day of Anger
"Lee Van Cleef has been dirty, "ugly" and downright mean... now watch him get violent."
A scruffy garbage boy becomes the pupil of famed gunfighter Talby, and the stage for confrontation is set when the gunman overruns the boy's town through violence and corruption.
Curator's Take
“A masterclass in mentorship gone wrong. Lee Van Cleef teaches Giuliano Gemma the art of killing, only to realize he created a monster. The 'lessons' structure gives it a unique rhythm, ending in a classic duel of ideology.”
Why This Movie Is Important
Possibly the best non-Leone western script. It’s a perfect 'shaggy dog' story of a cleaner learning the art of killing from a master. The psychological interplay between Lee Van Cleef and Giuliano Gemma is complex and gripping, elevating it to a character study rather than just an action flick.
